BlackBall's Robust File System Foundation can meet demands of all files
Legendary Trio is back to save users from Being Lost at C:
When Patty Brown first started at IBM, she laughs as she recalls the moments when she and a team of seven individuals
IPL'ed the first wide area network. "The disk's were so large, it was almost like serving a pizza, and trying to
coordinate without conference calling, or electronic mail, needless to say it was difficult. We actually had to load
the big floppy disk, run around the big CPU to our desktop, which was mainframe back then, and type in profiles".
This IBM Global Network was then sold to ATT about five years ago and has turned into the ATT's Worldwide Global Network.
She met Bob Brown, currently her partner, at Sterling Software and they released SAMS:Expert to market. Bob's involvement
with Al Shugart came later at Seagate Software, where Al sat as the Chairman of the Board. Al and Bob always had similar
opinions on the direction the storage industry was moving. Bob later co-founded SNIA, in efforts to align storage efforts.
BlackBall, Inc. was originally founded as BlackBall Music, LLC. When recording many hours of audio Bob and Patty both
found the current storage devices weren't facilitating the rich media they were creating, so immediately Bob's brain
kicked into action and hired himself a programmer. He was on to something. "We fundamentally started out making the same
mistakes as everyone else." Says Bob Brown "We were trying to use a databases to store meta data tags in when it hit him
like a ton of bricks. We weren't looking at an application problem; we were looking at a fundamental failing of storage systems."
BlackBall has just released the BlackMagic Workgroup and Server editions and is currently shipping Personal through on-line
retailers as well as being distributed via Navarre through Global Marketing Partners.
Whether the need is to store MS-Office, MP3, Digital Camera or Video files, BlackMagic will manage and find those priceless
files. BlackMagic provides access to BlackBall's patent-pending Rich Media File System RMFS volumes and facilities
transparently so users can interact through familiar desktop metaphors enabling users to gain the benefits of document management,
digital asset management, content management, storage management, content delivery and databases, without having to learn a new
application.
RMFS provides a robust file system foundation that is designed from the ground up to meet the demands of all files including
Rich Media on today's storage systems. You can visit them on their website at www.blackball.com.
