SearchIn Clients simply provide the graphical user interface that is used for searches and all supported data management functions. Clients also perform initial and real-time scanning of local storage devices and Outlook Mail stores, extracting content and metadata to build an index on the client machine. Client machines may also have a Workstation Agent installed to send index data to a designated SearchIn Server where it is merged with other indices to facilitate federated capabilities for authorized personnel, such as e-Discovery users.

SearchIn Clients will automatically discover other SearchIn components installed on your network and become the client interface into the distributed system. The client adheres to your network operating systems native directory services security system, so if you are authorized and have access, SearchIn will provide the search results. If you are not authorized or do not have access, the search results will only show what you have access.
